The Two Trees
Beloved, gaze in thine own heart,親愛的,凝視你自己的心裡,
The holy tree is growing there;那神聖的樹就在那裡生長;
From joy the holy branches start,從歡樂中生發出神聖的繁枝,
And all the trembling flowers they bear.顫巍巍的花朵綴滿枝頭上。
The changing colours of its fruit它那果實變幻的斑斕的色彩
Have dowered the stars with merry light 用悅目的光給群星作嫁資;
The surety of its hidden root它那隱蔽著的根須實實在在
Has planted quiet in the night; 已經把寂靜栽種在黑夜裡;
The shaking of its leafy head 它那滿頭的枝葉頻頻的搖曳
Has given the waves their melody, 賦予了海浪以澎湃的旋律,
And made my lips and music wed,也使我的雙唇得與音樂結合,,
Murmuring a wizard song for thee .為你低唱一支迷幻的歌曲。
There the Loves a circle go,在那裡愛神們繞圈翩翩起舞,
The flaming circle of our days,把我們的如火的青春環繞,
Gyring, spiring to and fro旋轉著,纏繞著,反反覆覆,
In those great ignorant leafy ways;沿著樹葉覆蓋的無知大道;
Remembering all that shaken hair憶想起那一簇長髮簌簌抖開
And how the winged sandals dart,和那有翅的草鞋如何急馳,
Thine eyes grow full of tender care:你的雙眼就充滿溫柔的關懷:
Beloved, gaze in thine own heart.親愛的,凝視你自己的心裡。

Gaze no more in the bitter glass別再凝視那苦澀慘悽的鏡面,
The demons, with their subtle guile,魔鬼們心懷著狡詐的詭計,
Lift up before to when they pass,高高舉起它走過我們的面前,
Or only gaze a little while;要麼僅僅凝視它片刻一時;
For there a fatal image grows因為那裡長著一個致命影像,
That the stormy night receives,它享受著風暴之夜的款待,
Roots half hidden under snows,根須在積雪下半顯露半掩藏,
Broken boughs and blackened leaves枝幹都斷折,葉子已焦黑。
For all thing turn to barrenness因為萬物都變得不育而貧瘠
In the dim glass the demons hold,在那群魔高擎的昏暗鏡中,
The glass of outer weariness,是屬於外部世界煩惱的鏡子
Made when God slept in times of old.是在遠古上帝沉睡時造成。
There, through the broken branches, go那裡,在那斷殘的枝椏中間
The ravens of unresting thought;穿行著不安思緒的黑烏鴉;
Flying, crying, to and fro, 飛翔著,啼叫著,往往返返,
Cruel claw and hungry throat,飢餓的喉嚨,兇殘的腳爪,
Or else they stand and sniff the wind 要麼它們就抖動蓬亂的羽翼,
And shake their ragged wings: alas!兀立著嗤笑那狂風;老天!
Thy tender eyes grow all unkind:你溫柔的眼睛變得冷酷無比:
Gaze no more in the bitter glass.別再凝視苦澀慘悽的鏡面。
